2Keynote: Cultivating Gift Planning Talent to Promote Diversity and Inclusion
Crystal Thompkins & Dien Yuen
The gift planning sector is grappling with the impact of new technology, new laws and regulations, changing donor expectations, and shifting organizational budgets. Underrepresentation within philanthropic organizations of ethnicity, gender, generations, sexuality and disability, as well as people with a broader range of capabilities and experiences limit growth and increase risk.
A community-centric organization needs people with a real understanding of what our current and potential stakeholders are thinking and experiencing. Given an increasingly diverse constituent and donor base, nonprofit board members, staff, and volunteers must be committed to building a culture that promotes diversity, equity and inclusivity in order to be more effective in building long-lasting mission support.
In this session, we will examine trends from donors of color, the current data on diversity in the fundraising profession, how you and your organization can promote diversity and inclusion, how to be a good ally in the gift planning sector.
